Lagersmit has a very specific market. They provide sealing solutions for pumps, vessels and tidal turbines. Think: specifically made and patented components which ensure that no leaks happen to these ships or devices.
With such a specific market they need to really effectively address the appropriate branch. Hence, they do not just advertise on Google or CNN. It is the site where peers look at, that they need their banners.
But how do you work with such a small space, yet much specific information you want to convey. The answer: gif animated banners. Thus you can still convey everything in a short time to your potential customer by making a ‘mini-movie’.
How do we do that?
We used the corporate identity to put together the banners (using InDesign and Photoshop) and then animated this according to the guidelines of the various websites. Directives such as the size (pixels), but also how big the image should be (eg 200kb) are kept as strict guidelines.
With this assignment it was not necessary, in fact, the websites they were advertising on were not ready for this yet, but we can also make banners in HTML5. These are smaller, userfriendly, scale with the browser and you can show more information. For example, two buttons which each lead to different link. Curious?
